Poland: The Scourge On The Roads
Summary
On January 1st, a blue BMW crashed into a group of people in the northern town of Kamien Pomorski killing six people, leaving one heavily injured. The accident was caused by the consumption of alcohol by the driver. The Poland government started to crack down the case of drink while driving case even further. Poland's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has started enforcing more laws in hope of preventing the same thing from happening again. Also, starting in 2015, all vehicles have to carry a breathalyser. The number of people driving under the influence of alchohol has dropped however, and the government are still doing their best to keep the trend going.
My Thoughts, Comments, and/or Reaction
Driving under the influence of alcohol has been a huge political issue here in the U.S. also. However, our number of people who drove while intoxicated have been increasing over the years. With Poland's strict government, their number of deaths and people has been decreasing. If our government could take better measures on the issue,it would not be a major problem as it is now.
Article's Relation to Politics
There are many issues out there that are tied to politics. For example, drinking under the influence of alcohol is huge right now. Without the government enforcing tight measures on the issue of drunk driving, our country might even end up a lot more worse than Poland's at the moment. Political issues like this are only one of many part of the economy that the government worries about.
