Togo's Election: A Tale of Two Families
Summary
Elections came up in Togo on July 25th, shortly after this article was published. However before that, the opposition people were hesitating to re-elect Faure Gnassingbe, the coup-plotter's son, who originally assassinated the first post-independece president of Togo. His father Eyadéma Gnassingbé seized power after that. Faure was a Democrat so elections were at hand to him.
My Thoughts, Comments, and/or Reaction
No matter of the past, I think it's right to focus on the current life. Regardless of his father who threw a coup in the past, Gnassingbe was considered a good Democrat. If he is able to do what is best for the country and achieve it, then there should be no one to bring him down.
Article's Relation to Politics
Elections are a huge thing when it comes to politics. Elections are politics. People argue over it and have their own side to them, just like political issues. One way or another, it sparks up debate, which is basically everything that has to do with politics. People participate in them because of their own beliefs such as an example of this election in Togo recently.
